Shafaq News/ India switched to Russian crude, similar to China, driven by its cheaper cost, for India to become the largest importer from Russia, for the eighth month in a row, at the expense of producing countries in the Middle East, including Iraq, which was the largest traditional source of oil to India, to fall to second place After Russia.

According to data compiled by ship-tracking firm Definitiv Oil Research, Russian crude has become the main player in India, with imports rising to 1.97 million bpd in May, up from 1.68 million bpd in April.
This gives Russia a market share of 38.6% of India's total of 5.10 million bpd in May.
According to the data, it is also expected that "India's oil imports from Iraq will reach 890 thousand barrels per day in May, to become the second largest supplier to India, down from 900 thousand barrels per day in April and 1.02 million barrels per day in March."
It added that it is also expected that "India's oil imports from Saudi Arabia will reach 570 thousand barrels per day in May, to be the third largest supplier to India, down from 690 thousand barrels per day in April and 850 thousand barrels per day in March."
India's appetite for crude has been driven by strong domestic fuel consumption and increased exports of refined fuels such as diesel and petrol.
However, some exports could be at risk in the coming months as European buyers are said to be concerned about buying fuel from India that may have been refined from Russian crude, or partly from Russian oil, and this could lead to some slowdown in demand for refined products. In India as a result.
Earlier, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, said that the European Union should take strict measures against India, which resells Russian oil to Europe as refined fuels, including diesel.
