Specialists praised the warning of "Al-Rasheed" and "Al-Rafidian" banks, and before them the Central Bank of Iraq, to citizens against transferring funds to parties claiming to open bank accounts to grant financial aid through "fraudulent" text messages or social networking sites, after which the citizen's data and accounts associated with credit cards or debit cards would be hacked. Advance payment, considering that the banking step is positive and needs awareness and education.
The head of the Association of Private Banks, Ali Tariq, explained to “Al-Sabah” that “the Central Bank and Al-Rasheed and Al-Rafidian Banks issued a warning to institutions regarding the recurring cases of opening accounts for citizens in order to obtain aid, and at the same time this process costs sums of money claiming to be entities that help citizens, This can happen outside the banking sector."
He added, "At the level of the work of banks, this cannot be acceptable from banking institutions operating within the directives of the Central Bank of Iraq to repeat cases of fraud, so we need to educate citizens against these cases and work with reliable institutions without being drawn into these cases."
For her part, the media director of Al-Rashid Bank, Amal Al-Shuwaili, explained to Al-Sabah that “the Central Bank warned citizens of parties that claim that there are sums or aid granted to people,” noting that “the method is by claiming to transfer an amount of money through the card.” Electronic cards owned by citizens in Iraq, and in fact, there is no truth to the existence of any money or aid as far as it is related to the theft of salaries and entitlements of employees who have electronic cards.
She pointed out that "the methods of circumvention are innovative and new. Previously, text messages were sent through the salary balances of employees and told them that the Rasheed Bank or any other bank gave you an amount of 250 thousand dinars, and that to receive the amount, please send the card number, and it is certain that all data will be hacked and the money existing in the card being
pull it out.”
Al-Shuwaili confirmed, "We, as a government bank, publish warnings to citizens to keep the card's PIN number and not to photograph it or send it to anyone, and we warn against securing or keeping the card at any office that claims to be affiliated with Al-Rashid Bank or any government bank. As for legal procedures, they are the responsibility of the authorities." Security and legal inside Iraq, but as a supervisor, it is our duty to publish warnings and posters and educate and raise awareness of citizens in this field.
While the banking expert, Durgham Muhammad Ali, told Al-Sabah, that “the central bank is the first supervisory authority in Iraq for the exchange and external transfer process, and it is concerned with detecting cases of bank fraud and taking action regarding them, so the central bank’s statement to notify cases of bank fraud The e-mail and the theft of account numbers came as an alert to such cases that occur in many countries of the world, as messages are sent via e-mail or text messages by phone inviting recipients to receive a cash prize they won or an international lottery for the United Nations to transfer the amounts to their account.
Indicating that it is "a fake fraud to expose people's accounts and seize them through electronic hacking, and illegal organizations working in the field of money laundering or aggressive behavior could be behind it."
