Shafaq News/ The Parliamentary "Electricity and Energy" Committee demanded, on Monday, the Iraqi government to pressure the United States of America to remove the energy file from political calculations.
The head of the Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee, Muhammad Nuri al-Abdarbah, said, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that Iraq has fulfilled all its financial obligations, and all its money owed towards Iran, the neighboring country, from which we hope to look at the historical relations between the two countries, explaining that Iraq has fulfilled its obligations. Financial and that the root of the problem is the US sanctions.

He continued, so we call on the Iraqi government to take its role through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by using diplomatic pressure on those countries for the purpose of distancing Iraq and the Iraqi people from their political differences, for which the Iraqi people pay the price.
Yesterday, Sunday, the governing coordination framework in Iraq held the United States responsible for the electricity crisis, and called on the government to address the American side to release the Iranian gas import dues, and not to use the file politically.
On June 26, 2023, a spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Musa, announced that all dues for Iranian gas had been paid, indicating that the paid funds had been deposited in the Trust Fund at the Trade Bank of Iraq.
Residents have been protesting for many years against the frequent power outages, especially in the summer, when temperatures sometimes reach 50 degrees Celsius.
