The banks that were punished by the central bank’s decision to stop dealing with them in the dollar currency called for removing the damage from them by stopping the implementation of the decision, because of the negative responses it carries to the dollar exchange rate and foreign investment.

During a press conference, representatives of the punished Iraqi banks said: "We are fully prepared to undergo auditing of all our transactions, whether from the Central Bank of Iraq or from international auditing companies, and we bear all responsibility for any abuses, if any."

They added that "the presence of nearly a third of private banks within the prevention of dealing in US dollars will have negative responses on many aspects, not only on the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar, but its impact will be very significant in several directions, including stopping foreign investment."

And the banks called on "the Iraqi government to lift the damage that occurred to us in particular and to the banking sector in general and to provide the necessary support in order to solve the issue," stressing "their continuation to provide all banking services to customers and according to the directives of the Central Bank of Iraq."

While she indicated that it "has nothing to do with political tensions, but rather it is an independent financial institution operating in accordance with regulations, regulations and instructions, whether international or local through the Central Bank of Iraq."
