{Wish: Al Furat News} US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley said that his country's decision to withdraw suddenly from Syria and Iraq "will give an opportunity to small terrorist groups to reconfigure themselves."
Milley indicated, during an interview with the Jordanian "Kingdom" channel, that there are ISIS fighters distributed in small groups across Syria and Iraq, and "they still pose a threat."
Milley described the size of his forces in Syria as "modest", denying the desire of the United States to expand in the country.
He stressed that America has kept a very stable number of forces in Syria, "working to continue to follow up on consolidating the defeat of ISIS."
And about whether the American forces will leave Syria at the moment the threat of ISIS is eliminated, Milley said, "This is a political decision, taken by the political leadership, and taken by the American president and the American government."
