The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, expressed, on Monday, his concern and regret over the lack of respect for the political agreement of the government of Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani.
And the regional government stated in a statement, which Mawazine News received a copy of, that "Barzani received a Canadian parliamentary delegation headed by Representative Tom Kimage," indicating that "the head of the Canadian parliamentary delegation presented a summary of the work and activities of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship with the Kurds in the Canadian Parliament, which includes members Of most Canadian parties, its goal is to support the Kurdish cause and strengthen relations with the Kurdistan region.
According to the statement, the delegation expressed its "praise for peaceful coexistence, religious freedom and freedom of the press in the Kurdistan region," stressing "their similarity with the principles in Canada."
Barzani highlighted the latest developments regarding the relationship with the federal government, explaining that "the Kurdistan region has fulfilled all its obligations within the framework of the constitution."
And he expressed his "concern and regret over the violation of the rights of the people of Kurdistan in an illegal manner and inconsistent with the provisions of the constitution, and the lack of respect for the agreement signed between the parties that formed the government and the ministerial platform that was approved by the Iraqi parliament by a majority."
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that "the people of Kurdistan will never give up their legitimate and constitutional rights, nor will they succumb to any pressure or threat from the parties that want to return Iraq to the era of dictatorship, and to suppress, subjugate and persecute the people of Kurdistan."
