    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, announced today, Wednesday (September 13, 2023), his intention to visit the capital, Baghdad, to try to resolve the outstanding problems peacefully.
Masrour Barzani said in his speech during the announcement of the beginning of the new academic year coinciding with the opening of the mixed middle school in the Korean Village in Erbil: “Our long patience does not mean the weakness of the Kurdistan region, but what matters to us is not letting the problems between us and Baghdad take another turn.”
He added, "We want to solve our outstanding problems peacefully, and we must guarantee all financial entitlements to the people of Kurdistan and their constitutional rights."
Barzani also said, “We would like to meet the political parties and find out the reason for this bad treatment with the people of Kurdistan,” adding, “When the Kurdistan people embrace and receive all Iraqis, it is assumed and expected that the Iraqi people will now defend the rights of the people of Kurdistan.”
The Prime Minister of the Regional Government concluded by saying, "We want to know why they are adopting a policy of starving the people of Kurdistan."
For his part, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, stressed the need not to involve the issue of salaries of employees and workers in the public sector in political conflicts.
Nechirvan Barzani announced that he and the Prime Minister of the Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, will visit the capital, Baghdad, at the appropriate time, with the aim of resolving the differences and outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
This came in a statement he made to journalists, today, Wednesday (September 13, 2023), on the sidelines of his meeting with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Challenger, who is on a visit to the city of Erbil .
Barzani said, “The differences with Baghdad are not limited to the issue of salaries only, but we have other problems represented by Article 140 of the Constitution, and for us the issue of its implementation, as well as the issue of implementing the Sinjar Agreement, is very important. ”
He added, "What is most important of all and should be addressed is whether the system in Iraq is federal or central," and he continued by saying, "The dealings that are taking place with the region are not federal transactions, and we hope, in cooperation with Baghdad, to reach a common understanding on the federal system in Iraq."
