The Secretary-General of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Fayez Al-Shawabkeh, said that the Executive Committee meeting held in Baghdad will witness the approval of environmental guidance laws.
Al-Shawabkeh added, in a statement to “Al-Sabah,” that “Baghdad hosted the work of the 32nd session of the Arab Parliamentary Union, which is a continuation of the conference that was held last February in Baghdad,” indicating that “there is an agenda and representatives of 18 Arab countries, gathered to discuss future matters.” related to the Union and the next conference.”
The Secretary-General of the Union pointed out that “environmental matters were on the committee’s agenda, and there are indicative laws specific to the environmental problems that the majority of Arab countries suffer from, and they will be approved by the Arab Union, and will be distributed among all Arab parliaments, in order to implement their legislation.”
He pointed out that "Arab parliamentarians are meeting for the first time after the events in Morocco and Libya and expressed their regret for what happened to the Kingdom of Morocco and Libya and called for providing all means to extricate the two sister countries from these crises."
The representative of the Lebanese Parliament and his representative in the Executive Committee, Michel Moussa, said that “the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Arab Parliament Union is the unifying framework for all Arab parliaments for periodic deliberation and coordination of Arab parliamentary work,” adding: “Diplomacy can overcome differences between Arab governments and maintain communication.” between peoples.
Moussa continued, "The conference faces two tasks. The first is internal matters for the conference on the topics of the financial system, work, and activity separating the two conferences, and therefore there are internal organizational matters. The second is to form committees emanating from the Executive Committee that study some general legal and political topics, climate, the environment, and all topics of interest to Arab parliaments."
