The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, chaired the work of the 32nd session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Parliamentary Union, with the participation of 18 Arab countries, while the Secretary-General of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Fayez Al-Shawabkeh, confirmed that the meeting of the Executive Committee held in Baghdad will witness the approval of environmental guidance laws.
Al-Mandalawi said in his speech during the launch of the session’s work, “We are pleased to meet at the opening of the 32nd session in Baghdad, the capital of the Republic of Iraq, which exudes a glorious history.”
He added, “Our meeting today coincides with very dangerous political developments, and we are also following what is happening in Palestine, and Israel’s violations of all international conventions.”
Al-Mandalawi offered his “deepest condolences and sympathy to the sisterly countries of Morocco and Libya that were exposed to the earthquake and hurricane, and we extend our condolences to their souls, and we pray for the recovery of those injured.”
He concluded by saying: “We have a busy agenda, and we hope that it will be completed and crowned with success.”
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Fayez Al-Shawabkeh, confirmed that the Executive Committee meeting held in Baghdad will witness the approval of environmental guidance laws.
Al-Shawabkeh said, in a press statement: “Baghdad hosted the 32nd session of the Arab Parliamentary Union, which is a continuation of the conference held in February in the Republic of Iraq.”
He added, “There is an agenda and representatives from 18 Arab countries gathered to discuss all matters related to the future union and the next conference.”
He pointed out that “everything has been agreed upon,” thanking “the Iraqi Parliament, its president, Muhammad al-Halbousi, and the first vice president of the council, Mohsen al-Mandalawi.”
He pointed out that “environmental matters were on the committee’s agenda, and there are indicative laws specific to the environmental problems that most Arab countries suffer from, which will be approved by the Arab Union and distributed to all Arab parliaments, in order to implement their legislation.”[/size]
