Intensifying Arab efforts to take positions that are compatible with political, economic and social interests to confront the changes that the world is witnessing, and to look forward to cooperation in the field of capacity building and the exchange of environmental expertise among Arab countries.
This is what was stated in the speech of the authorized person in the management of the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Jassim Abdel Aziz Al-Falahi, during his participation in the Arab Ministers of Environment Conference currently being held in Cairo, to discuss the follow-up to the environmental dimension in the sustainable development goals and the Arab position in all environmental agreements related to desertification and biodiversity.
Al-Falahi indicated that Iraq initiated projects and visions to achieve the goals of sustainable development, renewable energies, economic diversification, and the transition towards an alternative green economy.
The Acting Minister of Environment stressed the importance of Arab countries implementing their commitments in accordance with their national contribution documents, which requires unifying efforts to negotiate at the twenty-sixth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held at the end of this month in Glasgow, United Kingdom, which will have important outcomes for climate action.
It is noteworthy that the meetings of the Executive Office are held under the chairmanship of Libya, while the meetings of the Ministerial Council are held under the chairmanship of Egypt. The day of the ministerial meeting coincides with the celebration of the Arab Environment Day at the
headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, with the participation of delegations and environmental experts in the participating Arab countries.
