    Baghdad today - Sulaymaniyah
Today, Tuesday (October 3, 2023), former MP for the Change Movement, Ghaleb Muhammad, proposed linking the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees directly to the federal government in Baghdad, while accusing the authorities in the region of deliberately harming the citizens there.
For four weeks, educational staff in Sulaymaniyah Governorate have continued their strike, in protest against the delay in disbursing their salaries, despite Baghdad depositing an amount of 500 billion dinars in the region’s account, in addition to a loan worth 800 billion dinars per month.
In an interview with “Baghdad Today,” Muhammad believes that “linking employees’ salaries directly with Baghdad is the only solution that ends the recurring salary crisis, since the regional government and the ruling parties are intentionally harming citizens with this issue.”
He added, "It is unreasonable for employees to be paid the July salary while we are in the month of October. This is, to say the least, a humanitarian catastrophe caused by the corrupt parties in power."

On Thursday (September 28, 2023), the Kurdistan Region Ministry of Finance announced the receipt of 200 billion dinars from the federal government.
The ministry said in a brief statement received by "Baghdad Today", "A short while ago, an amount of 200 billion dinars was transferred to the bank account of the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan Region in the branch of the Central Bank of Iraq in Erbil."
She indicated that "the amounts are for the purpose of distributing employees' salaries in the region."
On (September 24, 2023), the Central Bank of Iraq deposited 250 billion dinars in the Kurdistan Region’s bank account.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance in the region, received by “Baghdad Today,” stated that “the Central Bank deposited an amount of 250 billion dinars in the bank account of the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq,” indicating that “the deposited amount is part of the process of financing employees’ salaries in the region.”
