Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: Member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Dilshad Shaaban, confirmed on Monday that the solution to the salary crisis of the region’s employees can only be achieved by approving the oil and gas law.
Shaaban said in an interview, “The issue of employee salaries in the region will continue and the problem will be renewed on a monthly basis, pointing out that the approval of the oil and gas law will contribute to resolving financial problems and disputes, because it is clear that there are political parties in Baghdad that do not want to solve this issue and are procrastinating the process of sending salaries.” .

    Baghdad today - Erbil
Member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Dilshad Shaaban, confirmed today, Monday (October 16, 2023), that the solution to the salary crisis of the region’s employees can only be achieved by approving the oil and gas law.
Baghdad sends 200 billion dinars to the Kurdistan Region every month as employee salaries, which means that what Baghdad sends covers only 22% of the salaries of Kurdistan Region and Peshmerga employees.
Shaaban said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the issue of employee salaries in the region will continue and the problem will be renewed on a monthly basis,” pointing out that the approval of the oil and gas law will contribute to resolving the financial problems and disputes, because it is clear that there are political parties in Baghdad that do not want to solve this issue and are procrastinating. process of sending salaries.
Earlier, the former member of parliament for the Change Movement, Ghaleb Muhammad, proposed linking the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees directly to the federal government in Baghdad, while accusing the authorities in the region of deliberately harming the citizens there.
Today, Monday (October 16, 2023), Kurdistan Regional Government spokesman, Peshwa Hawramani, revealed that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani informed the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government that the federal government will not send the salaries of the region’s employees directly.
Hawramani said in a televised statement followed by “Baghdad Today” that “Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani assured the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, that the Iraqi government will not send the salaries of the region’s employees directly, because that is in violation of the constitution.”
He added, "Al-Sudani said that the salaries of the region's employees will be sent through the official institutions of the Kurdistan Regional Government."
Al-Sudani's report comes at a time when the blocs of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the New Generation Movement, the Kurdistan Justice Group, and the Kurdistan Islamic Union, in the Iraqi House of Representatives, collected signatures to pressure Baghdad to send the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees directly.
