The General Traffic Directorate has begun registering vehicles electronically, in addition to activating the “Fine Platform” and preparing to operate the smart traffic lights project in ten locations in Baghdad.
The Director of the Citizens’ Complaints Division in the Directorate, Lieutenant Colonel Haider Shaker Muhammad, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “Based on the directives of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, and the Director of General Traffic, the adoption of modern technology in the process of registering vehicles electronically, and the activation of the smart traffic lights project, in addition to... “The fine platform was launched several days ago, which helps the citizen know the type of violation and the fine by using the application on the mobile phone.”
He explained that "the Traffic Directorate was quick to leave the previous method of registering cars in general, and after persistent efforts by its staff, it began the new project and registered vehicles electronically after conducting the electronic examination. The transfer and transfer of car ownership from one person to another has become possible via the citizen's fingerprint and an attached photo electronically." ".
He stated that "the directorate has begun new projects that will be launched gradually, including the smart traffic signal project at some Baghdad intersections, five of which are on both sides of Rusafa and the other in Karkh. This signal is smart and works on traffic."

As for the recently launched “Fine Platform,” the Director of the Complaints Division revealed that “the large number of citizen complaints urged the General Traffic Directorate to develop a mechanism through which citizens learn about the traffic fines imposed on them via their mobile phone.”
The presenter confirmed that "the platform enables the citizen to view the fines imposed on him after entering information on the application through the phone number and vehicle number. Once the information is entered, the citizen receives a notification that a traffic fine has been imposed for committing a violation on a specific street."
