Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Tuesday, that unifying the employee salary scale requires canceling 34 types of allocations, while he considered that the current high price of the dollar “is the price of speculators and not the official price of the dollar.”
Al-Sudani stated, “The decisions to increase the salaries of retirees come to relieve the suffering of retirees and junior employees, and there is a committee formed to follow up the salary scale,” noting that “unifying the employee salary scale requires canceling 34 types of allocations.”
Al-Sudani added in a press conference that followed a cabinet session, “The minimum salary for the social protection network is now 250-350 thousand dinars.”
Al-Sudani said, “The heirs of retirees are a forgotten group that has not been treated fairly in decisions over the past period, and they have not been included in any previous decisions related to combating poverty,” explaining that “the number of heirs of retirees is approximately 1.4 million people.”
In a separate context, Al-Sudani stated that “the current high price of the dollar is the price of speculators and not the official price of the dollar,” saying that “some private banks, banking companies, and merchants are manipulating the official price of the dollar.”
He went on to say: "We support many private banks, and they will be a big part of the solution to the crisis."
He stressed that "there are legal measures to deter dollar speculators," adding: "We need legal amendments to make the penalties against speculators more severe."
He noted that "there is an agreed-upon mechanism between the Iraqi and Iranian banks for dealing in dinars and tomans."
He continued: “We are monitoring the prices of foodstuffs in the markets, and inflation is good in the country.” He continued: “We will provide many medicines according to the official price of the dollar, and there is a follow-up to those who raise the prices, and we will provide construction materials at the reduced price.”
The Prime Minister pointed out that "our financial situation is outstanding, and the state is capable of curbing any crisis."
