    Today, Thursday (November 2, 2023), the Federal Ministry of Commerce announced the prices of food items as part of the competitive price sales campaign.

    According to the Ministry, the prices will be as follows:

    A quarter kilogram of adult milk costs 1,000 dinars

    -A kilo of sugar costs 1,000 dinars

    - Tomato paste, 800 grams, priced at 1,500 dinars

    Table eggs cost 5,000 dinars per layer

    -A kilo of chicken costs 3,000 dinars

    Yesterday, the Federal Ministry of Commerce launched a campaign to sell basic foodstuffs in Baghdad and the governorates at competitive prices.

    The Federal Minister of Trade, Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairi, said in a statement that “these campaigns are continuing in this regard to support the citizen and the local market,” indicating that “the Commercial Control Department conducts daily intensive monitoring campaigns to audit food prices in the local market in Baghdad and the governorates and submits reports on the levels of rise.” And the decline in prices, and in light of this, the General Company for Foodstuff Trade sells those materials that indicate an increase in order to create a balance in those prices and make them available to the citizen at competitive and subsidized prices.”

    Director General of the General Company for Foodstuff Trade, Lama Al-Moussawi, confirmed that her company "continues to launch these campaigns through its sites and outlets in Baghdad and the governorates, in addition to mobile teams in a number of regions."

    The campaign includes table eggs, sugar, chicken, yellow flour, tomato paste, and adult milk, and in the governorates that reported an increase in the prices of these materials, which are Muthanna, Najaf, Babil, Diwaniyah, Wasit, Basra, Maysan, and Dhi Qar, in addition to the outlets in Salah al-Din, Karbala, and mobile teams.
