The Ministry of Communications initiated a special plan to change infrastructure routes that conflict with traffic congestion relief projects, in coordination with the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities.
A special source in the Ministry of Communications told Al-Sabah, followed by Al-Eqtisad News, that the infrastructure routes for the Internet and communications sector were diverted, especially on the Karkh side, in conjunction with the implementation of projects to relieve traffic congestion. He added that this measure comes to avoid interruption of Internet and communications services, as the Ministry works through its engineering and technical teams and to support the concerned authorities to maintain the continuity of communications services of all kinds. The source pointed out that alternative paths for communications and the Internet are being implemented, in order not to conflict with the plan to construct tunnels and bridges that the Roads and Bridges Department of the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Municipalities is working on.
He stated that the plan to change the routes is being carried out under the direct supervision of the Minister of Communications, Dr. Hayam Al-Yasiri, as it takes place in two stages, the first of which includes preparing site statements and the second of identifying conflicting infrastructure, as well as adding alternative and temporary paths to the optical cable networks while extending permanent paths to the infrastructure. The plans were submitted to the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, and the process of converting those paths continued.
