Shafaq News/ A high-ranking delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government is scheduled to visit the capital, Baghdad, tomorrow, Monday, to discuss the issue of salaries and the region’s share of the general financial budget, and the resumption of oil exports from Kurdistan and Kirkuk Governorate via the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
This was announced by the head of the Regional Council of Ministers, Omid Sabah, in a statement he made to reporters on Sunday in the city of Erbil.
Sabah said in his statement, “Under the guidance of the Prime Minister of the Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, the delegation worked to maintain communication with all federal government institutions, and our main goal in doing so is to obtain the constitutional entitlements of the people of Kurdistan, especially for those who receive salaries.”
He added, "It was decided that the regional government delegation will visit Baghdad tomorrow, Monday, and meet with the Prime Minister," explaining that "there is no doubt that the issue of salary recipients will be discussed."
Sabah continued by saying, "We will make our efforts to preserve the financial entitlements and constitutional rights of Kurdistan."
The Kurdish government official was asked about the obstacles that prevent the resumption of the region’s oil exports, and he responded by saying, “It is scheduled at the beginning of next month that we will hold a session in Baghdad with the Federal Ministry of Oil regarding this matter.”
He pointed out that "the ministry delegation that recently visited Erbil had some demands regarding obtaining information regarding the oil file and its status in the Kurdistan Region, and that all the demands and information requested by the Ministry of Oil we sent to it in an official letter three days ago," noting that the ministry is studying That information, and in the scheduled session of the third of next month, we will learn about the latest decision of the federal government to resume exports, and the possibility of whether or not it will bear the cost of producing and extracting oil.
He affirmed the Kurdistan Region's support for the resumption of its oil exports, adding: But this depends on the possibility of the federal government ensuring payment of the cost of production and extraction to the oil companies operating in the region, and if this is not secured, then there is no doubt that exports cannot be resumed.
