    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Thursday, the head of the Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, announced the implementation of major seizure operations, while indicating an effort to include the private sector in the national anti-corruption strategy.
Hanoun said in his speech during a celebration held by the European Union delegation on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, and attended by the “Al-Eqtisad News” correspondent, “We remember the International Anti-Corruption Day, which falls on December 9, and we take three aspects from the United Nations Convention against Corruption (transparency, participation and international cooperation). It is the summary of work to achieve successes.
He added, "We worked from the first moment to implement international obligations by legislating laws, including the law on the right to access information, which represents transparency, the law to recover the return of stolen funds, as well as the second amendment to the Integrity and Illicit Gain Commission law and other relevant laws, in addition to the effective judicial rulings and their quick and bold procedures." Pointing out that "the government has placed in its approach the priority of combating corruption in addition to combating poverty and providing services, and if we cannot combat corruption, the other files cannot be implemented."
He stressed that "the government sought to support the Integrity Commission and the law enforcement agencies, as the Commission found ample room for it to advance its duty, and we have achieved many duties at the level of the Commission’s departments within its multiple specializations, the first of which is the penal and deterrent aspect in cooperation with the Supreme Judicial Council, which sought direct support for the Integrity Commission," explaining “At the deterrent and penal levels, we have achieved many achievements, and the Commission has had major seizure operations, as well as activities through mobile and media teams and investigations into various corruption files.”
Regarding the preventive aspect, Hanoun stressed, “We opened the door (where did you get this from) with regard to illicit gain and money inflation, and followed up on the financial disclosure of officials in cooperation with judges, and the corrupt people were sentenced and the money was recovered from them,” pointing out, “We worked to recover the accused and the money.” Whether inside or outside Iraq, we have benefited from the government’s successes at the international level, whether through the Prime Minister’s relations or through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
He stated, "We were able to conclude memorandums of understanding with many countries and achieved the recovery of many of the accused. We seek to recover our money through understanding with countries to open accounts before the Integrity Commission and law enforcement agencies in Iraq, as well as the Money Laundering Office, to identify the locations of stolen and looted funds as a result of corruption and organized crime." ".
He stated that "the Commission worked on the national anti-corruption strategy that works in all institutions, and we seek to include the private sector in it," pointing out that "we are working to encourage integrity and include anti-corruption within the curricula in cooperation with the Ministries of Education and Higher Education." He stressed that "we have achieved achievements.
" By holding conferences with universities, we seek, through the Iraqi Anti-Corruption Academy, to be a model for postgraduate study, which is the Higher Diploma in Anti-Corruption,” pointing out, “Working to involve the private sector within the UN agreement in cooperation and participation of clans, community and religious activities, and all sectors of society, and continuous cooperation with non-governmental organizations.” government and media institutions.
