{Politics: Al-Furat News} The Parliamentary Oil Committee announced today, Sunday, the entry of a commodity-for-gas swap agreement between Iraq and Iran.

Committee member Kazem Touki explained {to Al-Furat News} that: “During Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani’s recent visit to Iran, it was agreed that humanitarian goods, especially medicines, would be imported through Iraq to supply gas.”
He added, "Iraq agreed to pay the import amounts in exchange for supplying gas due to the imposition of the blockade."
Toki confirmed, "This agreement has already entered into force, and we hope that it will be adhered to."
On November 6, 2023, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani visited the Iranian capital, Tehran, at the beginning of a regional tour.
It is noteworthy that Baghdad and Tehran signed a previous agreement to exchange Iranian gas for Iraqi crude oil, according to what was announced by the Media Office of the Iraqi Council of Ministers. The statement stated that Iraq seeks to replace the imported Iranian gas it needs to produce electricity through a plan to provide immediate, medium and long-term solutions that include importing gas from Turkmenistan and Qatar.
