    Information/Baghdad...
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Tuesday, that controlling demand and rationalizing consumption is better than increasing the production of electrical energy, while stressing attention to the issue of wasted energy and extracting it from operating obstetric units.
The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma, "Today, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani chaired a meeting devoted to reviewing plans to develop the electricity sector, attended by the Ministers of Planning, Electricity, and Industry, in addition to a number of undersecretaries, general directors, and advisors."
The Prime Minister praised "the efforts of the Ministry of Electricity that it made during the last peak season," stressing "the integration of all national expertise to address the problems that cause delays in updates in the electricity sector."
He stressed that "controlling demand and rationalizing consumption is better than increasing production," pointing out "the need for cross-fertilization of ideas between the energy sector ministries, and that a starting point must be established to launch joint work between them."
He stressed "the necessity of paying attention to the issue of wasted energies and extracting them from operating obstetric units, in addition to taking into account thermal insulation procedures in residential complexes and buildings, in order to improve the reality of this vital sector."
It was decided, during the meeting, to assign the Ministry of Planning to prepare studies and recommendations to control the increasing demand for electrical energy, as well as prepare a study to reconsider the tax rate on the import of devices that consume higher energy and adopt standard specifications in import operations.End/25
