Two Egyptian and French companies manufacture an Iraqi satellite

The Communications and Transport Committee in the House of Representatives announced that two Egyptian and French companies had submitted their offers to launch an Iraqi satellite.
Committee member Zuhair Shahid Al-Fatlawi said in an interview with Al-Sabah: The Iraqi satellite is still in the presentation stage, indicating that the file has been transferred from the Ministry of Communications to Science and Technology to prepare all the requirements of the project.
For his part, an expert in the field of satellites, Engineer Falah Nouri, told Al-Sabah that launching an Iraqi satellite requires the assistance of international companies and entities that manufacture satellites specialized in Earth observation, indicating that obtaining the technology of these satellites is limited to these entities.
He added that taking a decision from higher authorities to start such a project requires official approvals to contact the competent foreign authorities and provide the necessary financial allocations for it.
He pointed out that satellites are of several types depending on the tasks they perform. Satellites related to communications, Internet services, and television broadcasting are among the tasks of the Ministry of Communications and its affiliated companies, stressing that the Space Department has been officially assigned to be the nucleus of an Iraqi space agency specializing in satellites for Earth observation for civil and security purposes. .
