Today, Thursday, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, announced the return of the councils of the Scientific Research Union in Iraq, while indicating the intention to build a specialized research center in Baghdad, the first in the Middle East.
Al-Aboudi said, “The world is now open to technological applications as it is a very important path in the scientific and research fields,” stressing “the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s approach to this topic.”
He added, "The University of Technology, Information and Communications specializes in this aspect," noting that "a decision was issued to return the councils of the Scientific Research Union in Iraq, which was headquartered in Baghdad, and which was closed after 2003 due to events."
He stated that "last night, a decision was issued to reinstate it under the direct supervision and support of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani," pointing out that "work on this took place a year ago through consultations, meetings, and joint committees with the Federation Council."
He stated that "Baghdad will be an incubator for these councils of the International Research Union, as Baghdad was, is and will remain the vessel for global research for Arab and Islamic countries," pointing out that "if we cooperate, join hands, and exchange scientific opinions, we will rise."
He stated that "scientific research takes a large part in our management policy for the Ministry of Higher Education," explaining that "the construction of a specialized research center in Baghdad has begun, which will be the first in the Middle East to support specializations, whether medical, engineering, or sociology."
