The real estate investment market in Kurdistan... laws and infrastructure have increased its cohesion in the face of challenges

Shafaq News/ Despite the emergence of many crises in the country during the recent period, which affected various fields, the real estate investment market in the Kurdistan Region is still somewhat cohesive, facing many challenges.
Muhammad Pradosti, a local investor, told Shafaq News Agency, “The special laws in the Kurdistan Region are very helpful in investment, and also security is one of the basic things that investors look for in business, and this is available in the region as well, and the environment there is suitable for investment, in addition to the crises that We are going through it temporarily.”
Regarding the impact of the fluctuation of the dollar exchange rate on the real estate investment market, Pradosti pointed out that “the rise and fall of the dollar exchange rates against the Iraqi dinar had a direct impact on the projects, as the citizen is confused about buying a housing unit with the dinar or the dollar because of this fluctuation, and this impact is still continuing on market".
For his part, economic affairs researcher Sirwan Najm al-Din told Shafaq News Agency, “The real estate investment market in the Kurdistan Region is still in good condition compared to other places despite the many obstacles, because the region has a strong infrastructure in this regard, as the Kurdistan government has worked to gain the confidence of investors.” Foreigners and locals in terms of security and stability and in terms of laws that enjoy many facilities, and this has made the real estate investment market to be largely cohesive.”
He added, "The real estate market in general has faced major challenges in terms of increased customer orientation toward safety requirements from earthquakes, fires, etc., and companies operating in the region are currently trying to keep up with these requirements, which are considered somewhat new in the country, and the role of the regional government has been great in this field."
The Kurdistan Region Investment Authority had previously announced that the year 2023 was ideal for investment in the region, despite the economic challenges that Kurdistan experienced.
