90% of bottleneck removal projects have been completed this year

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities announced that 90 percent of the projects of the first package to relieve traffic congestion will be completed during the current year.
The ministry's official spokesman, Istabraq Sabah, told Al-Sabah: The 19 projects in the first package to relieve traffic congestion have reached very advanced completion rates, indicating that 90 percent of these projects will be completed and put into service before the end of this year.
He added that there are 6 projects that constitute important traffic hubs on the Rusafa side that will enter service before the middle of this year, while the rest will be completed successively.
Sabah explained that the current year will witness the start of work to open the special lanes of the Baghdad ring road, which will alleviate these congestions as it ensures a high flow of vehicle movement coming from north to south and vice versa without the need for it to enter the capital.
He continued that the rest of the bottleneck-relief package projects will include four bridges across rivers and the development of new axes, as well as coordination with the General Traffic Directorate in order to take new procedures regarding the import of vehicles to take into account the capacity of the streets.
