Today
, Tuesday, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced a strategic plan consisting of two parts, which included the establishment of industrial cities in each governorate, while it revealed a movement to establish medicinal cities and announce them soon.
The head of the Industrial Cities Authority in the ministry, Hamid Awad Al-Issawi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the role of the Industrial Cities Authority is activated after the issuance of Resolution No. 2 of 2019," noting that "the authority began in mid-2020 to develop a strategic plan for its work consisting of two parts. The first is the completion of the three industrial cities in Dhi Qar, Basra, and Anbar, in which the commission worked and the sums of the investment budget were spent on them.
He pointed out that "the industrial city in Dhi Qar was distributed to industrialists in full after its completion, while the industrial city in Anbar completed the first phase in it completely, while the completion rate of the second phase reached 75 percent, while the industrial city in Basra reached the completion rate in it to 59 percent." percent and was announced for development due to the lack of financial allocations.
He added, "The second part of the plan included the establishment of an industrial city in each of the country's governorates, where the number of developed cities and the completion of sectoral approvals has reached 18 industrial cities, where a development contract was signed in the industrial city of Najaf with an area of 6 thousand dunums, and a development contract was signed in The holy city of Karbala, with an area of 5,300 dunums.
He pointed out that "the plan for the first half of this year included the establishment of pharmaceutical cities, as the percentage of completion of approvals for the city, with the support of the Council of Ministers, reached 75 percent, and it will be announced soon after completing the file during the next month."
He continued:
He explained, "There is coordination with the governor of Basra in order to allocate a new industrial city with an area of 5,000 dunams, as well as coordination is underway with the Ministry of Transport to resolve the procedures for the industrial city in Al-Faw, in addition to a new industrial city specialized in the oil and petrochemical industry in Anbar Governorate, as work is underway." The land is being allocated in coordination with the sectoral departments in the governorate, in addition to coordination with the Nineveh governor to allocate an area.
He pointed out, "The authority has taken measures under the direction of the minister to allocate lands belonging to the ministry and offer them for development in the coming period."[/size]
