    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Thursday (February 1, 2024), the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee commented on the impact of the conflict between America and the armed factions on Iraq’s diplomatic image.
Committee member Haider Al-Salami confirmed to “Baghdad Today”: “The conflict between America and the factions gives a negative reflection on the image of Iraq diplomatically, and that is why the government is working hard to end this conflict, work to calm the situation, and prevent Iraq from becoming an arena for any regional or international conflict.”
Al-Salami explained that "the international community is very interested in the Iraqi reality and the developments taking place there, whether at the security, economic, or even political levels."
He pointed out that "the international community is following the developments of the escalation between the two sides, which gives the image that Iraq is unstable in security and this matter has many and major negative repercussions on the Iraqi interior."
The previous stage witnessed an escalation between the Americans and the armed factions in Iraq against the backdrop of Washington’s support for Israel in its war against Gaza, which claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people, while the escalation reached the stage of mutual bombardment between the two parties using marches and missiles, which stopped “temporarily” with the announcement of Hezbollah’s suspension of its operations. Military action against the Americans to prevent “embarrassing the government,” as he put it, while the United States confirmed that it reserved the right of response.
