    Today, Sunday (February 4, 2024), the Ministry of Electricity expressed its seriousness to initiate the necessary steps regarding energy returns and reducing losses during an important meeting with the ministerial team for smart transformation and electronic collection projects.
    A statement from the ministry, received by “Baghdad Today”, said, “Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadel chaired an important meeting with the ministerial team for smart transformation and electronic collection projects, where he reviewed the importance of these projects, and the government’s adoption of them as well as the ministry as a major turning point, indicating that "It is time to take the necessary steps seriously and seriously to reduce losses and waste of energy."
    He added, "The Minister referred to the strenuous efforts made by everyone for extensive, analytical, research and field studies, and comparisons of the experiences of neighboring countries in this regard, to reach the outcomes of adopting the first phase in ten regions, including in Baghdad and others in the governorates, and studied the capabilities of their networks, feeders, and loads, and equipped them and fully serve them, It was discussed in the Council of Ministers, and with specialized parliamentary committees, and its schedules were prepared and its files were carefully studied, and the RFI files were also discussed, all the way to the RFP, and the declaration of the regions and the project for transparent competition.”
    According to the statement, a number of important and necessary topics were discussed during the meeting, including:
    ● Discussing the financial model that will be presented by competing companies.
    ● Value-added and internal return mechanisms.
    ● The nature of the areas, determining the rates of losses, and working to reduce them successively.
    ● It is necessary to take care to calculate the prepared, collected and wasted energies, and to set specific time limits for dealing with them.
    ● Calculating lighting energy, and installing meters on feeders.
    ● Installing smart meters for subscribers, and completing the installation of HIS systems according to the Ministry’s terms and specifications.
    ● Forming joint committees that document the reading of the equipped capacities, and the project guarantees (full equipment and service) in the elected areas.
    ● Preparing the systems center and its software to receive signals from the smart meter and the Hiss systems.
    According to the statement, the ministry confirmed that “the project will guarantee full equipment and service 24 hours a day, with no increase in the tariff price, and will support citizens with medium and limited incomes, and will target control and regulation of high loads.”
