Today, Saturday (February 24, 2024), the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed Iraq’s keenness to create an appropriate atmosphere for dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Rashid said in his speech during the Sixth Baghdad Dialogue Conference, followed by “Baghdad Today,” “We point out Iraq’s keenness and its role in creating an appropriate and supportive atmosphere for dialogue between the two neighboring countries, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” noting that “the Iraqi policy pursued by the various governments “After the fall of the dictatorship, it is a policy based on a basic principle in which Iraq will always be an active party for regional understanding and coexistence and help create environments supportive of dialogue.”
Rashid added, "Iraq has worked to not be a launching pad for aggression against any regional party, and it is an effective regional factor for constructive cooperation and supporting the will of dialogue and the values of understanding between different countries," stressing that "the region today is in dire need of strengthening the principles of constructive dialogue." The product, and our interest as a region, is that we all cooperate in order to create an emerging, cooperative and integrated regional environment.”
He continued, "The atmosphere of wars, violence, and terrorism in recent decades was a major factor in wasting these human and economic resources," stressing that "there will be no stability in this region without completely ending the plight of the Palestinian people and restoring their legitimate right to their state and their national territory."
Rashid stressed, "It is the responsibility of the international community to work with a real and effective will to end this suffering and stop the heinous crimes being committed against the Palestinian people."
