    Economy News - Baghdad
Member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, MP Hadi Al-Salami, announced today, Thursday, the recovery of more than 100 billion dinars as a result of exceeding 200,000 employees on the social welfare network.
Al-Salami said in a blog post followed by Al-Iqtisad News, “More than 100 billion out of 220 billion were recovered as a result of 200,000 employees in government departments exceeding the social welfare network during the past years.”
He pointed out that "work is continuing for the purpose of recovering billions," stressing that "there are follow-ups with the regulatory authorities to hold those who transgress public funds accountable."
At the beginning of 2024, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Assadi, announced the launch of a “recovery” campaign to detect those violating social protection, stressing that all researchers and employees in the Social Protection Authority were directed to return the annual statement and audit all applicant families.
He pointed out that "there are still thousands of violators who do not deserve the protection salary," adding that "the authority achieved revenues for the year 2023 to the Social Protection Fund amounting to more than 94 billion dinars from the funds recovered from the violators."
