Shafaq News/ On Sunday, the Hajj and Umrah Authority called on the Central Bank of Iraq to direct banks to open their doors to pilgrims, noting that these banks are refraining from receiving them.
She said in a statement, received by Shafaq News Agency, that the Supreme Authority for Hajj and Umrah calls on the Central Bank of Iraq to direct the banks, especially (the Iraqi Trade Bank, Al-Rafidain, and Al-Rashid Bank) to open their doors to pilgrims to the Holy House of God to exchange the dollar currency.
The authority also stated in its statement, “There are many numbers of citizens who are required to go to Hajj and need to buy the dollar currency at the official rate, to use it in the Holy Land, but Iraqi banks refuse to receive them.”
The Authority called on “the Central Bank to circulate a directive to all banks involved in selling the dollar currency, to receive the guests of God, since the exchange companies did not accommodate pilgrims wishing to buy the dollar at the official price.”
