    The Board of Commissioners of the Communications and Media Commission approved, today, Tuesday (August 6, 2024), the new sanctions list.
    The Commission's media stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "the Board of Commissioners held its regular session headed by Bassam Al-Zaidi and attended by members of the Board of Commissioners to discuss the projects and memoranda included on its agenda."
    He added, "The Council opened the session by reading the regulations for licensing and organizing smart messages, and studied the financial and legal matters related to licensing to provide this service through specialized companies in cooperation with mobile phone companies," indicating that "this step will help preserve the rights of subscribers by establishing a clear mechanism for subscribing to services and expanding the labor market in addition to not monopolizing the services provided to the Iraqi citizen."
    He continued: "The Council approved the ratification of the approved technical standards for the electronic management system issued by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers for the digital transformation project, as this project is very important for government institutions and it is necessary to proceed with completing the necessary procedures to complete it."
    He explained that "the Council has completed the approval of the new regulation, which is concerned with handling the implementation of the sanctions regulation and imposing fines on unlicensed entities and licensed entities that violate the licensing conditions."  
    He pointed out that "the Council reviewed what was stated in the meetings of the eighth session of the Iraqi-German Joint Committee and decided to ratify the adoption of its decisions, which included the media vision and how to combat fake news and digital content, in order to benefit from the expertise possessed by these advanced institutions." 
    At the end of the session, the Council decided to "form a special committee to complete the administrative and logistical procedures for participation in the fifth session of the Erbil International Exhibition HITEX, which will be held at the Erbil International Exhibition Grounds at the beginning of next month."
