    Zebari was announced, in the (April 30, 2015), that Iraq sought to obtain a sovereign rating and communicate with the credit rating agencies, as pointed out that it is preparing to issue bonds worth a huge five billion dollars to cover the fiscal deficit.

    Zibari: We plan to release 5 billion dollars in bonds

    Iraqi Minister of Finance, Hoshiyar Zibari announced on Monday that [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] will hope to suggest plans to release 5 billion Dollars in bonds, during a meeting with investors by the end of July.

    In a statement to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], Zibari said: “Iraqi officials have met with 3 banks in addition to Fitch and Moody’s for credit rating on June 16th”.

    “We have completed a successful phase leading us up to the technical testing with the three banks and the credit rating institutions in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and we strongly believe that they will take part in this endeavor”, he added.


    “We will soon be commencing our promotional tour by the end of July or the beginning of August at the latest; then the bonds will be issued. Everything will take the right course”, carried on Al Zibari.

    The Iraqi government called on the help of J.P. Morgan, Citibank and Deutsche Bank to plan for the first emission of 9 year old bonds that will cover the budget deficit resulting for the drop in oil prices and the war against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
