Trump 'doesn’t know how to lead a superpower,' says Chinese media
    19 December 2016 • 11:10am
Chinese media ridiculed Donald Trump on Monday, saying the President-elect has no idea how to lead a superpower, as Beijing denied it had stolen a US research drone.
The Global Times led a media chorus against Mr Trump after he accused Beijing via Twitter of stealing the drone, which had been taken by a Chinese vessel which had been shadowing the USNS Bowditch in the South China Sea.
“Trump is not behaving as a president who will become master of the White House in a month,” said the highly nationalist newspaper, which often publishes provocative editorials.
“He bears no sense of how to lead a superpower.”
The China Daily also lambasted Mr Trump for his allegation that China stole the drone which was in international waters.
"What is truly amazing about this tweet, was the soon-to-be US president completely misrepresented what had actually happened - that is more dangerous than funny," the state-controlled newspaper said.
Trump's behaviour "could easily drive China-US relations into what Obama portrays as 'full-conflict mode'," it added.

The media backlash was launched as a foreign ministry official described Mr Trump’s comments as “completely inaccurate.”
Spokeswoman Hua Chunying said that the Chinese navy was only holding onto the equipment until it could confirm who it belonged to.
"Imagine you found something on the street,” the official told a regular press conference in Beijing. “You would need to first check and verify it before handing it back to someone else.”
The Pentagon said on Friday that a Chinese naval vessel "unlawfully" grabbed the unmanned underwater vehicle around 50 nautical miles northwest of Subic Bay in the Philippines.
Beijing, which initially accused the US of "hyping up" the drone incident, agreed to return it following negotiations.

Ms Hua said the US and China were engaged in “smooth communication through military channels” over the incident.
However, tensions have been increasing between Beijing and Washington since the start of the month, when Mr Trump received a call from the leader of Taiwan, a self-ruling island which China considers a breakaway province.
