[ltr]Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Sons of Iraq Alliance, Abbas al-Muhammadawi, survived an assassination attempt by an Improvised Explosive Device emplaced next to his residence.[/ltr]
[ltr]In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, he said “A terrorist group set an IED next to my residence to assassinate me, but the IED was discovered by the police forces and then dismantled.”[/ltr]
[ltr]“The IED was emplaced inside a watermelon which shows the new means of terrorism to target the citizens where I call the citizens to be aware of such means,” he added.[/ltr]
[ltr]“The attempt resulted from several threatening attempts by cell phone,” he pointed out, assuring that “Such mean action increases the patience and insistence of the Sons of Iraq Alliance to go on till achieving our aims.”[/ltr]
