The minutes of the Federal Reserve's latest meeting on Wednesday showed that the Open Market Committee had expressed optimistic views on the level of growth of the US economy, with the labor market, consumer spending and the industrial sector making strong gains.
The differences between members of the council were confined to seeing inflation rates, and discussions on changing the central bank's approach to price stability, with the proposal to move towards a "gradually increasing path" of US interest.
Given the high valuation of assets and the low level of financial markets, members of the central bank expressed concerns about the potential for accumulation of financial imbalances, with the possibility of a sharp reversal of asset prices that have devastating effects on the US economy.
The record said the US economy could improve if the US Congress cuts corporate taxes as part of a tax reform plan.
Members of the Council agreed that the United States labor market had continued to be strengthened and that economic activity was rising at a stable rate despite the turmoil related to the hurricane that had struck the country.
