World Trade Organization makes rare comment on "Trump definitions"

(Encyclopedia of this Day News | Iraq News ) - Live: World Trade Organization expressed concern about the US President Donald Trump on a plan to impose duties on imports of steel and aluminum.
Roberto Azivido, director of the organization, said in an official statement Friday that he was clearly concerned about the announcement of US plans for tariffs on steel and aluminum.
The WTO statement is a rare interference in WTO trade policy.
US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that 25 percent tariffs on steel imports and 10 percent on aluminum imports would be imposed next week.
The Director of the Organization that the possibilities of escalation as real as we have seen from the responses of others, according to the statement.
The EU stressed that it would take retaliatory action if the United States implemented the tariff proposal.
"The trade war is not in anyone's interest," he said, stressing that the WTO would monitor the situation closely.
