The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that the storming of forces loyal to President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to the port of Hodeidah would cause a disaster for Yemen and would resolve the situation in the country.

The ministry said in a statement that if the fighting in Yemen to close the supply channel of medical supplies and basic living materials provided by the port of Hodeidah, the civilians in Yemen will be on the verge of death, according to the agency "Sputnik" local.

"All this confirms our concerns, which we have expressed from the outset, that the storming of Hodeidah could lead to catastrophic consequences for all the people of Yemen, we regret the failure to provide the extra time demanded by the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffith to avoid these developments."

Yemeni forces, backed by the Arab coalition, began a military operation Wednesday to regain control of the town of Hodeidah and its harbor from the grip of al-Houthi militants, and analysts believe it will be the strongest battle in the war against the Houthis, which has been going on for three years.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has been leading a military alliance against the "Huthis" who control a number of Yemeni provinces, including the capital, Sana'a, since September 2014. 1
