Washington reveals "ongoing contacts" with areas where demonstrations are taking place

The US State Department revealed on Thursday that there were "ongoing contacts" with the areas that are witnessing protests, refusing to disclose the nature of those contacts.
"It supports and understands in general the rights of Iraqis to come out with peaceful demonstrations to demand their rights," said ministry spokeswoman Heather Noiret, noting that the Iraqi government is making serious efforts to preserve the lives of the demonstrators and is seeking to implement their demands.
"We have very close contact with the Iraqi government, and we are in constant contact with the regions facing unrest, especially those where we have diplomatic negotiations," she said, adding that she did not want to "go into details, but I can confirm that we have many dialogues with the government Iraq ".
