Investors are watching important economic events this week, highlighted by the Fed meeting and China-US trade talks.
Fed meeting The Fed will
hold its monetary policy meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, amid expectations of interest rate stabilization.
US interest rates currently range from 2.25% to 2.50%.
In 2018, the US central bank raised its interest rate 4 times by a quarter percentage point at a time.
There is widespread speculation that the bank will become more cautious about monetary tightening, especially after repeated comments by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell that the bank will become more patient and based on economic data on monetary policy.
Data jobs
The United States will unveil its jobs report for January on Friday amid mixed expectations.
Unemployment in the world's largest economy is expected to decline by 3.8% from 3.9% in December.
As for the number of jobs, the economy is expected to add 165,000 jobs in January from 312,000 in December.
The US economy has suffered recently due to the government closure that has just ended.
Business results of
investors are scheduled for a strong week of corporate disclosures on quarterly business results.
Amazon, Samsung, Facebook, Microsoft, Caterpillar, Apple and Exxon Mobil are due to announce quarterly results this week.
Business talks
China-US trade talks are due to resume this week through a visit to China by Vice Premier Liu Hie.
The Chinese official will meet the US delegation, which includes the trade representative and the treasury secretary.
Earlier this month, China and the United States launched a three-month trade truce in which they seek a trade deal, as well as the suspension of any additional tariffs.
Last week US Commerce Secretary Wilber Ross said the United States was miles away from reaching a trade deal with China.
