{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The Parliamentary Human Rights Committee expressed its grave concern over the increasing numbers of kidnapping of activists and assassinations of demonstrators.
The committee stated in a statement, received by Al-Furat News, that while we appeal to the government to provide protection for peaceful demonstrators and respect for human rights principles in Iraq through the expression of opinion and peaceful demonstration guaranteed by Article (38) of the Iraqi constitution.
The Committee expresses its deep concern about the increasing number of kidnapping of activists and assassinations to which the demonstrators are exposed, and by its supervisory role, the government calls for revealing the fate of these kidnappers, reducing the crimes of assassinations, providing protection by the security forces for peaceful demonstrators, and conducting investigations on those inhuman crimes, in addition to the need to prosecute the perpetrators. And bring them to justice and reduce the frequency of insecurity in providing security for demonstrators demanding their legitimate rights.
