US Ambassador Matthew Tueller confirmed that the attacks against our embassy and our bases are targeting the prestige of Iraq.
Tueller said in a statement to Al Arabiya television that "Washington condemns the militia actions against the Kurdistan region and we welcome the Iraqi openness with its neighborhood."
And that "Washington rejects any outside interference in Iraqi affairs, and there is no intention to increase the number of US forces in Iraq," noting that "the US embassy in Iraq will not be closed."
"Militia activity undermines the authority of the Iraqi state. We stand against Iran's malign activities until it changes its behavior," he said, pointing out that "militia agendas in Iraq come from Iran's Revolutionary Guards."
He added that "the weapons used to attack our interests are an Iranian industry," noting that "those who attack our interests in Iraq belong to Iran."
And he completed "our presence in Iraq at the request of the Iraqi government," noting that "the attacks against our embassy and our bases are targeting the prestige of the state."
