Turkey continues its policy of thirst towards Iraq, in light of continuing not to release the country’s water quotas through the irrigation dams that it is working to build near the Iraqi-Turkish border, which has caused a catastrophic drought crisis for years until now, amid political calls to invest in the economic partnership in a project The path of development, and the dry canal in pressure towards concluding a water agreement that guarantees Iraq’s right in the coming years from systematic reduction, as well as forcing Turkey to withdraw its permissible military forces deep into the Iraqi border in the north.
*Necessity of escalation?
Speaking about this file, the State of Law coalition calls on the government to invest in the development road and dry canal project in pressuring Turkey to release water quotas for Iraq, while stressing the necessity of making Ankara take the initiative to resolve these files in light of future joint cooperation with it.
Coalition member Ibrahim Al-Sakini said in an interview, “Providing Turkish companies with the opportunity to invest in many projects should not be free of charge,” noting that “Ankara’s withdrawal of its combat forces from the lands of northern Iraq is the first step.”
He continues, “The country’s arrival at the stage of economic service with Turkey gives strength to Baghdad in negotiating a solution to the outstanding issues,” pointing out that “the end to Ankara’s lurking must be through partnership in implementing future projects.”
Al-Sakini continues his speech: “The United Nations Charter gives Iraq the right to withdraw Turkey’s forces present in northern Iraq and release its water quotas,” adding that “the government is required to invest in the development road and dry canal project in pressuring Turkey to release Iraq’s water quotas.”

*The truce plan?
For his part, political analyst Sabah Al-Ukaili commented on postponing Iraq's move towards escalation towards Turkey in conjunction with continuing to reduce Iraq's water shares, while stressing that the current government is dealing calmly and strategically in order to achieve external and internal stability.
Al-Ugaili said in an interview, “Following diplomatic methods in order to end the Turkish military presence in the areas of northern Iraq is a step in the right direction,” noting that “Turkey is evading signing international agreements that require it to release Iraq’s water quotas.”
He continues, “Ankara fears being legally convicted in the competent courts regarding the issue of cutting off Iraq’s water quotas,” pointing out that “one of the internal problems that Turkey invokes is the lack of a water policy that limits the waste of water within Iraqi territory, and to ensure that it does not go to the Shatt al-Arab.” “.
Al-Ugaili continues his speech: “Turkey’s failure to sign the riparian countries agreement weakens the international decision to force Turkey to release Iraq’s water quotas,” adding that “the current government is dealing calmly and strategically in order to achieve external and internal stability.”
In recent years, Iraq has been suffering from a major water crisis as a result of the scarcity of quantities arriving from Turkey, which has followed a policy of starving Iraq and trying to exploit the crisis to obtain greater economic and political gains. Ended / 25 J
