    The Parliamentary Legal Committee clarified that the law granting the employee regular leave was given a first reading and is still under discussion, indicating that an amendment to its paragraphs is very likely, while it seeks to approve it during this session.

    Committee member, Muhammad Jassim Al-Khafaji, said that the law granting employees regular leave was received from the government in 2016 to Parliament and had not been legislated in previous years, noting that it had been given a first reading in this session, according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.



    He explained that the draft law speaks about the authority of the competent minister or an entity not affiliated with a ministry, such as a governor, to grant the employee five years’ leave while keeping 50% of his nominal salary.

    He pointed out that the law contains another paragraph indicating the possibility of granting the employee unpaid leave for five years or less. It also contains other details as well, indicating that it is possible that an amendment may be made to it, as it may be added to the nominal salary, which is 50% allowances, and this is contained in the Amendment to the law.

    Al-Khafaji pointed out that the Legal Committee, by adding any amendments, serves the segment of employees, adding that there are decisions of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council that conflict with the law or previously regulated the leave process or others that will be canceled if the law is passed, including Resolutions 418 and 373 after the law is enacted.
