The Minister of Communications counts Iraqis' visits to pornographic websites before and after blocking

Shafaq News/ Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, announced on Monday the statistics of Iraqis’ visits to pornographic sites before and after the blocking, confirming Iraq’s exit from the list of countries with the highest viewing of these sites.
Al-Yasiri said in a press conference attended by Shafaq News Agency, that the number of Iraqis visiting pornographic websites in one month reached more than half a billion visits and views.
She added that after blocking pornographic websites, the number of visits decreased to 89 million.
Al-Yasiri pointed out that these statistics are global and officially published, indicating that Iraq was among the countries with the highest access to pornographic sites.
She continued, saying that after we took over the ministry, Iraq dropped from the list of countries with the highest viewing of pornographic websites.
In November 2022, the Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, directed the blocking of pornographic websites in Iraq.
In September 2015, the Iraqi Parliament voted in favor of a decision requiring the Ministry of Communications to block pornographic websites on the Internet, but the decision was not fully implemented.
In mid-March, the Federal Supreme Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq) decided to oblige the concerned authorities to block websites and pages on social media sites that publish pornographic, immoral, and offensive materials to religions, beliefs, and people in the country.
It is noteworthy that all websites in Iraq became open after 2003, after the regime of the late President Saddam Hussein had blocked many of them.
