    The official spokesman for the Ministry of Planning Abdul - Zahra al - Hindawi said in a statement received (range) a copy of it, " The Agricultural Statistics Directorate of the Central Bureau of Statistics of the Ministry of Planning, issued a report on the results of the initial expectations for the production of wheat and barley crops for the current year 2017 , " noting that " has been expected production of wheat crop winter season 2017 to 2829 thousand tons , down estimate the estimated rate of 7.3% from the actual production of the season for the provinces covered by the past. "
    He added Hindawi, that "higher production is expected to achieve is in Wasit province , where as much as 617 thousand tons , 21.8% of the total production and lower expected production achieved is in the province of Karbala, with an estimated 33 thousand tons by 1.2% of the total production of the provinces."
    Hindawi pointed out that " the total cultivated area of the provinces covered by the crop of wheat was estimated at 3595 thousand acres winter season 2017 , down an estimated 2.8% higher than last season , where an estimated 3,697 thousand acres , " explaining that "Wasit province , came to the fore in terms of area planted with wheat followed by the provinces of Diyala and Qadisiyah. "
    He Hindawi that " the expected production of barley harvest amounted to 303 thousand tons for the winter season 2017 , down an estimated rate of 39.3% from the actual production of the last season for the provinces covered by as much as 499 thousand tons," adding that " the highest production is expected to achieve is in the Qadisiyah province , where as much as 91 thousand tons , 30.0% of Iraq 's production and less than expected production achieved is in Basra , with an estimated 0.4 thousand tons , up 0.1% from the production of Iraq.
    he said the official spokesman for the Ministry of planning said , " the total area planted to the provinces covered by the crop of barley was estimated at 713 thousand acres for the winter season 2017 , estimated a decline of 32.9% higher than last season h W amounted to 1062 thousand acres. "
    The Central Bureau of Statistics prepares initial forecasts for wheat and barley crops in order to use them for the purposes of planning for the import, export, storage and meet the local needs of these crops as the main source of food and the cultivation of these crops in all parts of Iraq sizes and wide.
