Preliminary data from the Korea Customs Authority showed Friday that South Korea imported 1.2 million tons of crude oil from Iran in June, up 10.5 percent from its level a year ago.
The volume of imports is equivalent to 8.4 million barrels, according to Reuters calculations. The data showed that the fifth-largest buyer of oil in the world in total imported 11.6 million tons of crude last month, compared to 11.3 million tons a year ago.
It is due to the Korean National Oil Company, a state-run later this month, which publishes the final data for South Korea's imports of crude oil last month. Korean company data is standard within the approved sector oil imports Korean Aljnobih.anthy / 25
