The US armed forces spotted the launch of a missile fired by North Korea yesterday from a submarine stationed in the Sinbo shipyard.
CNN quoted special sources at the Pentagon as saying that the test was carried out through a "cool launch", where the steam is pushed under high pressure from the launch cylinder, while the engine is turned on in the air.
According to US military sources, North Korea conducted two tests on similar components last month, and three tests within a year.
The US-based Hopkins Institute of Advanced Studies said late last week that Pyongyang may have begun building a new missile submarine in Sinbo's shipyard.
In August, North Korea carried out the launch of a submarine-launched submarine rocket that flew 500 kilometers into the Sea of Japan.
The agency pointed out that the embodiment of this program could give Pyongyang a weapon that will be more difficult to monitor than its rockets stationed on the ground.
