US President Donald Trump hailed what he described as the "wise" decision of North Korea's leader to delay a decision to launch missiles into the Pacific island of Guam.
"North Korean leader Kim Yong-un has made a very wise and logical decision," Trump said in a tweet on Twitter.
"The alternative would have been disastrous and unacceptable."
According to official media, the North Korean leader postponed the decision to launch missiles towards the island of Guam, US, waiting for what the United States will do in return.
In his first public appearance about two weeks ago, the Korean Central News Agency reported in a report that Kim Yong-un was inspecting the army command on Monday and examining a plan to launch four missiles at targets near Guam in the Pacific.
"If the Americans continue their reckless and extremely dangerous actions on the Korean Peninsula and neighboring areas and test restraint in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the latter will make an important decision as it has already announced," the report said.
Pyongyang's intention to launch rockets into Guam has raised tensions in the region last week and US President Donald Trump said the US military was "ready and ready" if North Korea acted with caution.
