13% of Iraqis live in random areas, Planning Ministry

Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Statistics shown by Iraqi Planning Ministry pointed that 13% of the Iraqi
population are living in random areas.
The survey was made in cooperation with the UN HABITAT organization, but it did not cover the three Kurdish provinces of Arbil, Duhuk and Sulaimaniya, as well as Nineveh, Anbar and Salahal-din provinces due to the security situation there.
Iraqi population is expected to be over 35 million.
The survey pointed that there 3.687 random areas in the 12 provinces under the survey.
The ministry attributed to the increase of random areas to the housing problems in the country, as well as the displaced people.
