    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Planning clarified, on Monday, regarding the withdrawal of the law regulating slums from Parliament.
"The percentage of the population in cities (urban) is 69.9%, and the percentage of the population in rural areas is 30.1%," said the ministry's spokesman, Abd al-Zahra al-Hindawi.
Al-Hindawi added, "Some rural areas have witnessed encroachment and bulldozing in some of their areas due to the housing crisis that Iraq is suffering from and the lack of a law that deters these encroachments on agricultural areas."
In an interview with the official news agency, al-Hindawi said, "The government has withdrawn the law regulating slums from Parliament to reconsider it according to the changes that have taken place in the country."
